About — More About Myself

Felix Maiwald

I spent most of my youth in a small town in the German Black Forest. When I finished my A-levels in 2009 I left Germany and went to England. After one year of voluntary work in London I moved up country and began my university course in Derby in 2010. I completed my studies with a Master's degree in Graphic Design in 2014. Since then I have been working as freelancer and in three different design agencies in Southern Germany. I am currently (and for the second time) employed in the cycling branch of industry creating advertisements, individual cycling wear, web sites and technical brochures.

Visual communication has been a passion of mine since I was young. I have been developing and designing web sites since I was a teenager. Since university I have also practised creating corporate identities, editorial work and animations. My technical skills include HTML, CSS, JQuery and PHP coding, Wordpress theming as well as working with software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and AfterEffects.

I take an interest in elegant typography and well considered editorial designs. Combining hand made footage like paper cut outs with digital technology is especially interesting to me. Hopefully you enjoyed this portfolio as much as I enjoy my craft.
